Wessex Contemporary Art is a group of nearly thirty professional artists all of whom either live or work within a fifty mile radius of Sherborne in Dorset.
The group is concerned with the professional promotion of the visual arts in and around Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire with occasional exhibitions further afield.
The group meets once a month to discuss policies, exhibitions and to lend support to it's members in a practical and social way. Members are encouraged to discuss their present projects if they wish and joint workshops are often organised.
Currently our meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at Alweston Village Hall.
WESCA has a long history from the days of being established at Sherborne House where regular exhibitions were held and meetings and workshops maintained. Since the changes at Sherborne House we have maintained a presence in and around Sherborne with exhibitions locally and further afield.
The Group likes to remain contemporary and professional and is always encouraging new membership and new ventures and exhibitions.
WESCA provides support for it's members in the form of website, publicity, discussions and exhibitions. WESCA encourages artists to work together in smaller groups for exhibiting as well as providing larger exhibitions in which members can exhibit in larger numbers. We hope to be inclusive where possible and offer opportunity to all.
