Jindra Jehu

Jindra's practice is concerned with the entanglement of species and the relationship of systems in nature. She wants us to consider worlds that we do not experience at first sight. The fruit of the mushroom negates the labyrinthian network of mycelium lying hidden beneath our feet.

Recent research has involved employing fungi as an agent for the transformation of sculptural form. This necessitates developing a partnership with an artistic medium that has its own agency, resulting in a lack of control for the artist. This enables her to explore ideas around the democracy of species and the rejection of Victorian constructs of nature and conquest.

Through these collaborations she explores the interconnectedness of systems in nature, the human body and natural cycles of life and death.
